Okie didnt blog for damn long so im going to be long winded today. gonna tok abt ace campo
Arrived at Kluang at 11 a.m. Started to pitch our tents and finished pitching our tent at 1 p.m. Our tent sure looked flimsy and it would be our new home for the next 3 nights. Went for our lunch of rice and chicken. Then after that had our first activity. Jungle Survival. It was sure stupid. Me and Joe Wei did a nice job together starting the fire and creating the water collecting hole. When digging a hole I dug out and earthworm. Yuck. But the other groups did a very bad job and we got screwed real bad on our first activity.
Dinner followed up and we went for reflection to reflect on what we had done on our first activity. Went to sleep later. Sleeping was sure a big feat as it was damn hot and sweaty. Malcolm was like damn noisy in the tent asking us if we mind if he slept half-naked. Hello…. We are in a hot stuffy tent and we don’t want your smell to suffocate us…
Woke up in the morning at 5 a.m. Freaking tired. But we still had to go for orienteering. 1 word. Boring. Went around looking for stupid chops and got only 3 chops. The instructor was angry again as we lost one of his Ziploc bags. He kept shouting at us like, “ I know Ziploc bag in Singapore very cheap, only 20 cents, give me 1 dollar and keep the change right?” , then kept asking us to swap positions from hornet to push up back to hornet position.
Had lunch later and many people was spamming the rice as it was very nice. The rice looked whitish but it has a distinctive coconut smell. It was nasi lemak rice! Yum! Then we went for river rafting. In river rafting, we had to imagine that we were trapped in a place full of hornets and had only 30 minutes to build a raft and escape to the so-called Land of Life. We pulled and pulled the ropes and it was very tiring. The sad thing was that time ran out and we did not have enough time for everyone to raft across the river. Argh! Joe Wei did most of the tying but Wei Kiat seemed a bit un-enthusiastic and didn’t really tie up the ropes properly. Joe Wei got real angry and they started shouting at each other. Joe Wei was mad that Wei Kiat came to screw up our group. True enough, one of our barrels tied by Wei Kiat fell off and our back raft capsized. Dang it. Had river crossing later and was sure load of fun. We had to jump into the water and cross the river by a mere rope within a set limit of time. I won Andrew, the Great. Huff.
Dinner came and we had our night walk, or rather, confidence walk. Haha, we were supposed to go up a small slope which was pitch dark all by ourselves and see if we were spooked. But our group was special. We went up in 3’s and it was damn fun. Ian saw that the teachers were going to prank us and he told us secretly. Then we went up to the teachers and said a huge “HI!” and went on our way. The teachers squatted there like sleeping pigs and suddenly jumped upped to scare people. Many people merely laughed at their attempt as Mr Arul was just too friendly to scare people.
Night came and it was the most irritating night of my life. I remembered clearly that we were sleeping soundly when it suddenly rained HEAVILY. Our tent was flooded and we couldn’t sleep for nuts. The water leaked in like it was free and our tent soon became a small swimming pool. We could even wash our face in it. Malcolm and I decided that since we couldn’t sleep we might as well try to prevent water from leaking it. But it was totally fruitless. What a night!
Waited till 5 a.m. in the morning and the rain finally stopped. We flipped the damn bloody tent upside down to drain the water and re-pitch the tent. Poor Wei Shen’s tent. His tent collapsed and they had to re-pitch it again twice. Went for our freaking breakfast with a heavy heart as we were a bit demoralized. But many of us cheered up as we went for Abseiling and Prusiking! Prusiking was very fun as we had to climb up a small building with the help of only 2 loops and a rope. Without Walls. I made it up! Then we looked forward to abseiling. But we were thoroughly disappointed. It was only 1 level high and we cleared it in like 5 seconds. Poor Lucian couldn’t support his weight and fell on his back. Ouchies!
Lunch came again and we ate something. Can’t remember. Then had our climb up the mountain Gunung Lembak. Super draining. We went up the mountain and reached the top in like 1 hour 15 minutes thoroughly drained. We took 2 photos up the mountain but the sad thing was that Lucian didn’t make it up the mountain as he was too tired fell down quite a few times. Began our descent. I fell down hard on my butt like 3 times. Ouchies. Didn’t have any help of a rope and Nicholas was like telling me to hurry up because I was hogging the route. I went down the route carefully and finally reached a part where there was ropes to help us get our footing. I rushed downed the route like Flash and Nicholas and Wei Xuan was lagging behind me now.
Campfire came and we had loads and loads of great fun seeing other group’s skits and cheers. Azri’s group was very very funny. Or was it just Azri himself? Azri looked like a comedian that night with his funny actions and voice. He said something like’ “Hey what’s your name? No No look at me man….. What’s your name? Martin? Hey Martin, Let me tell you something, when some one talks to you and ask for your name, say your name and face them or you will get one tight slap!”. All of us were rolling around the ground laughing till we had stiches. We presented our cheer and skit and soon, it was the trainers’ turn to present their skit. It was a short cheer or rap that went like,
Hey SJI,
You are one cool cat,
You’ve got a little bit of this,
And a whole lot of that,
So come on down and join the fun….And……..
Up! Chicky Boom! (x3)
Down! Chicky Boom! (x3)
To the left! Chicky Boom! (x3)
To the right! Chicky Boom! (x3)
We all had great fun. The night came and it rained again. This time our tent almost collapsed and we decided to evacuate the tent and run to the canteen to sleep. We joked about there and talked about how stupid some of us were and how fun the camp was and how did we fare in the camp. Ha Ha, Omar sneaked Twisties into the camp and we wer feasting on it that night.
Canoeing came and I teamed up with Omar. What the heck man! Mr Soo purposely chose me to take the capsize boat and I was supposed to capsize the boat and my teammates were supposed to save me. Had great fun and the only thing that made the canoeing screwed up was Alfred Nathan himself. He shouted at us like his voice was free and poor Jeryl was victimized as some of us did not do our jobs well enough like Chee Kian. He was too weak and when I tried to help I got scolded as I was not supposed to do anything. What the…. Our school motto is: Men of integrity, Men for OTHERS! I tried to help and got scolded instead.
Went on our way back to Singapore. All of us were knocked out and sleeping like pigs on the bus. Went on a trip to Mac and Kopitiam as all of us were craving for burgers and char kway teow. Singapore food never tasted better. Yummy! Then went home and slept like pigs again from 8 30p.m. to 10 a.m. next day. I love warm showers man……
P.S. For the third day it was mountain climbing first followed by abseiling.
Yeah thats for ace camp. going to talk about today tomorrow
